Fabrics to promote well-being
An intensive care unit has different requirements for colour settings than a delivery ward, or a waiting area. Clinically cool or comforting warmth: colours influence our psyche. New research has established that a friendly environment which is founded on a well devised colour concept can make a significant contribution to recovery. Although a comfortable atmosphere cannot cure illness, it can drastically enhance the psychological well being of patients. More and more clinics, rehabilitation centres, care establishments and residences for senior citizens are making use of aesthetics using uplifting colours and refined fabrics to generate a positive mood that focuses on recovery, rather than illness.

Création Baumann, the textile enterprise from Langenthal presents the Health Care collection. It features fabrics which promote well-being. “We wish to enhance the quality of life for people who are ill or who need care“, said CEO Philippe Baumann. In consultation with Health care sector specialists, an interior designer and a colour psychologist, we aim to bring a breath of fresh air into the Health Service. The collection builds on the existing range. The Basic quality in flame retardant Trevira CS is now available in 57 shades and an approx. 300 cm width. The uni fabrics are supplemented by several stripe designs and a bold check pattern.

Patients and care staff expect a comfortable and friendly environment . Colour design is thereby of the utmost importance. With three different colour themes, the new collection generates an uplifting and emotionally engaging atmosphere in care facilities. The light coloured spectrum encompasses shades from bluey grey to yellow, the middle range hues in apricot, pink and yellow, whilst the darker spectrum ranges from magenta to green. An eye catching fabric was developed for each colour theme. Floral inkjet motifs bring nature to the waiting room or the sick bed. Acqua transports the onlooker to a meadow with photographically transposed blades of grass; Sielo features delicate blooms of chervil against a backdrop of a blue summer sky whilst Vita transports the onlooker to a colourful spring meadow with tulips, grasses and marigolds.

New to the collection is a functional curtain in Trevira CS: The light, yet opaque Unito fabric is flame retardant, durable and easy care. It can be washed at up to 60 degrees and therefore does not have to be pre treated with antibacterial inhibitors. The soft sheen imparts an air of hygiene and freshness. The fabric is available in 17 colours and a width of approx. 330 cm. It excels in hospital settings as a curtain for partitioning off patients and wet areas in rooms so privacy can be maintained and then when it is not required, it can be bundled together on the smallest of areas with minimum use of space. Equally new to the range is the Purino upholstery fabric with an anti incontinence finish. The Trevira CS fabric has been specially coated to prevent absorption of liquids in the fibres. The simple, hardwearing uni fabric is available in 12 fresh colours.

With this comprehensive range of fresh and easy care fabrics Création Baumann is opening up a new market segment. With the broad breadth of fabrics – that ranges from incontinence resistant upholstery fabrics to colourful eye catchers – the company yet again demonstrates its competence as a partner to the healthcare sector.
