12/12/07 CRÉATION BAUMANN LINE 2008
Highlights of the 2008 collection from Création Baumann
Textiles are transformation conjurers. With fabrics, interiors can be transformed quickly and enduringly. Textiles are a seduction to creative interplay. They bestow new splendour, add finishing touches to furnishings, and set accents. Whether opulent, or minimalist - colours and textures are an opening for re-styling an environment afresh, time and again. Création Baumann, the Swiss textile entrepreneur from Langenthal, again demonstrates with the 2008 collection how fabrics can be used to create ambiance. Extravagances and an entire series of beautifully harmonised fabrics entice us to transform interiors in hotels, lounges, restaurants or at home to our own taste.
Around 30 new items provide variety in the 2008 Creation Baumann Line. Amongst the highlights are two extravagant new fabrics: - “Elisa“ and “Eluis“. The purist, elegant “Elisa“ curtain fabric features smocking in the upper third. The hand sewn section lends the woollen cloth a three dimensional texture. The 3 m tall panel can be used on both sides and is available in five colour options. It is not only aesthetically pleasing, but possesses excellent sound absorbing qualities. The “Eluis“ tartan enhances furniture to perfection. It is available in six colour settings. The unusual throw charms with smocked rhomboids that are reminiscent of origami. The three dimensional honeycombs give the fabric the look of a textile sculpture.
Equally elaborate to produce and drawing heavily on Création Baumann’s extensive technical expertise in textiles is the “Eplexo” curtain fabric. The flame retardant fabric in a width of 1.50 m is first given a transfer print. The diffused picture is then cut into ribbons, which are interwoven with each other for three quarters of the panel’s length; the remaining quarter is allowed to flutter freely in the breeze - an effect that is reminiscent of bead curtains. “Dotto” is a particularly eye-catching fabric at the window. The fabric, which is coated on both sides, features a punched out hole grid pattern. Facing side and reverse are kept in strikingly different colours; in six different colour settings an intensive colour is teamed with a neutral shade. Colour and patterning generate a delightful interplay of light and grid. Création Baumann’s mastery in laser cutting comes to the fore in “Epunto”. The flame retardant taffeta curtain transcribes traditional embroidery into the latest laser cut technology. Oversized carnations in a punch card motif are scattered across the delicate fabric. The item is available in eight colours and features an interplay of transparency and fabric qualities.
The whole series of carefully harmonised colours set the emphasis within the 2008 collection. The timeless collection complements the existing range with around a dozen new items. The fabrics beautify private residences and bestow a personal note to restaurants, lounges and hotels. Alongside elegant uni fabrics, timeless jacquard designs in diverse colour themes enhance the ambiance and functionality of interiors. The fabrics in flame retardant and easy care Trevira CS can be put together and combined freely, akin to a modular building block system. They allow for endless options in the styling of a room. Noteworthy is the striking “Marla“ curtain and upholstery fabric, where overlapping discs generate fascinating depth in a two tone fabric. Another new product is “Velos“, a velour in Trevira CS with an exquisitely matt sheen. A bedspread completes the collection: “Calma“ brings elegance to sleeping quarters with fine pinstripes and three dimensional ribbing.
The new products of the 2008 Création Baumann Line constitute yet another demonstration that in-house design in tandem with in-house production generates unconventional creations. The collection is available at trade outlets from January 2008.
