Daylight can be unwelcome at times. For example in conference rooms, where illustration material needs to be displayed to best advantage or in hotel rooms where somebody would like to take a short nap during the day. For a long time the only available options were unsatisfactory: heavy, stiff blackout fabrics, which often had a canvass like look and were accompanied by a second more decorative curtain. An expensive and aesthetically unsatisfactory compromise.

In 2002 Création Baumann launched with “Dimmer“ a world first: Following several years of research and development work with the company Trevira, the textile enterprise from Langenthal succeeded in creating a highly functional fabric. The uncoated fabric convinces with both its look and quality. The exceptionally fine Trevira CS yarn is woven in an extremely high warp and weft density and therefore has a very compact surface. The blackout effect is further enhanced with a black yarn that is interwoven into the back of the fabric. The high quality flame retardant blackout fabric is a successful symbiosis of functionality and aesthetics. It not only effectively darkens interiors, but also drapes beautifully and is comfortable to touch. Slight raising of the nap gives it a peach skin effect and a velvety sheen. The textile enterprise’s innovative best seller has meanwhile received numerous accolades and been supplemented with new designs and colours.

With “Dimmer“, Création Baumann has brought a unique product to the market. A number of different blackout fabrics also contributed to making the textile enterprise a name as a specialist for blackouts. A development of the “Oscura“ fabric lead to “Oscura plus“. The back coated “Oscura Tinto plus” fabric is now available in a width of 280 cm and in 17 colours; it cuts out one hundred percent of the light. The blackout “Phantom II“ is now available in a width of 300 cm in 20 colours. New to the series is “Magic“, which is available in several designs and offers a high degree of blackout. Its 330 cm width greatly facilitates applications on large expanses of glass. The softly draping “Magic” fabric is woven using the double weft binding with a black warp and can therefore be used on both sides. With this new product Création Baumann once again displays its textile technical expertise.

Whether softly dimmed or virtually black, with blackout fabrics from Création Baumann a visually convincing solution of exceptional quality for darkening interiors is to hand. The versatile fabrics are equally well suitable for residential furnishing as well as for the contract sector.
