Made in Langenthal

3 minutes

Paris, London, New York, Tokyo & Co: Création Baumann fabrics are at home all over the world. Their origin lies in Langenthal where textile know-how is at work – and has been since 1886.

The world was different when the two textile salesmen Friedrich Baumann and Albert Brand founded their «company for the production and sale of linen and half linen» in 1886. The streets were firmly in the hands of coachmen, long-distance journeys were made by ocean liners and impressionism was the art style of the moment: Claude Monet was just painting his «Woman with Sunshade». There have been many changes since then – also in the production of textiles at Création Baumann. For good reasons, the production location has always remained the same: Langenthal in Switzerland.

Textile knowledge from four generations

In the more than 130 years of its history, the family company has handed down its textile knowledge at the Langenthal site and further developed its technological know-how over four generations. The result: a contemporary range with furnishing fabrics, systems for interior shading and innovative adhesive textiles that meet every need. 600 designs and 6000 colours are available to customers today for interior textile design tailored to their wishes. Création Baumann is also able to satisfy individual customer requirements.

All fabric production processes

From the processing of the yarn to the finished fabric, production at Création Baumann in Langenthal covers all processes in the production of high-quality and innovative textiles. Fabric innovations are created under the direction of Philippe Baumann in the company's in-house design studio, in cooperation with the development department that meticulously checks the properties of the materials used. The weaving and dye workshops realise the ideas and ultimately transform them into market-ready products. Création Baumann is continuously investing in new technologies – from digital printing to laser cutting – in addition to traditional processes so that unconventional fabrics can also be realised in Langenthal.

From the initial idea to the finished fabric, everything is created under one roof; this is the basis for our textile success.

Textile quality tested in accordance with standards

Quality is as important for high-quality textile production as creativity and capacity – and this is no coincidence at Création Baumann. Before all fabrics can be sold, they pass through extensive test procedures in our in-house laboratory and in specialised external laboratories. Acoustic fabrics are tested for their sound absorption, textiles for public buildings are tested for their flammability and fabrics for privacy and glare protection are tested for their transparency and total energy transmission in accordance with ISO/EN standards. You can also convince yourself of the quality of the fabrics directly where your textile creation is realised: in the Création Baumann showroom in Langenthal.
