Création Baumann's NATURE & POEMS collection combines fluid materials with bold textures and nature’s subtle play of colours. Discreet earthy colours and subtle nuances create scope for timeless combinations that are also full of character. Product manager & designer Sibylle Aeberhard talking in an interview about playing with craftwork and materiality, texture and colour – and about a collection that is both original and poetic.
Enabling poems to portray content in an abstract form. The textiles in this collection vibrantly create fine contrasts among each other without being too loud – a harmonious overall look with underlying suspense, produced by deliberate breaks in the texture, materiality and colour. Different moods and messages are created depending on how they are combined with each other.
It is about achieving a balance between rational and emotional factors, i.e. harmonising the formal and aesthetic aspects of a collection. The visibility of the theme, effect in the room, textile interpretation of the aesthetics and their technical implementation: ultimately it is our goal to generate a positive emotional effect through the aesthetic expression of a product, in addition to its function. We want to create an emotional response.

I like the FLORAS fabric with its black and white colours. I love the ornamental design, the subtle play with an ethnic influence, realised in a jacquard fabric. The development process was extremely intense and very satisfying.
ROSETTA sets elegant accents and cuts its own path within the collection without losing a connection to the theme. The rather unusual material mix of fluffy wool yarn and linen creates an exciting three-dimensional effect. The design and the striking colours also support this image: natural – but extravagant!
In spite of the perfection of the craftsmanship, the fabrics retain very subtle irregularities. This gives the objects vibrancy and character. They have an inherent warmth that forms an antipode to the perfect objects with smooth surfaces and the cool, reserved charisma that often define our everyday life.

Nature, seen as the origin and basis of life, represents neither the future nor the past for me. It is somewhat timeless. This constant actuality forms the substantive basis of the collection.
Sibylle Aeberhard has been working for Création Baumann in a creative capacity since 2004. The product manager & designer discovered fabric at an early age: as a child, she already sewed clothes for her dolls and for herself. Since fashion is too short-lived in her opinion, she was thrilled more and more by the basic textile element. What Sibylle Aeberhard – who graduated from the Zurich textile specialist class and was influenced by her mentor, Bärbel Birkelbach – likes about her job is the mix of handicraft, creative design and technical know-how.
