RECREATE TEXTILES: THINK FORWARD 2012/13

What could be a sensible second life cycle for odd lots? To answer this question, Création Baumann opened the doors to their warehouse stock, hence reversing the traditional creation process: instead of the product idea determining the choice of suitable materials, it is the textiles determining the product idea.

Dawinikusli

“Dawinikusli” from Daniel Daub and Helen Hofmann from the University of Art and Design in Offenbach, Germany created a stratified upholstery option that can be manufactured from a variety of materials.

Fold

In “Fold”, Anja Hungerkamp from Hochschule Niederrhein, Germany, exploited the idea of origami, using hardened textiles that could be folded and exploited in many different ways.

HotDots

The “HotDots” project from Stefanie Powell, a student at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin, impressed the jury with a combination of material and plastic.

Reset

“Reset” from Anna Dähne and Katharina Schäfer, both studying at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, created new textile combinations from the samples.

Trias

“Trias” is borrowed from the classic wood veneer and is the work of Jennifer Hier from the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design.
