Roller Blind Collection

4 minutes

SUCCINCT TEXTURES, ALL-OVER DESIGNS AND THE PLAY OF LIGHT AND SHADE: THE NEW ROLLER BLIND COLLECTION HAS MANY FACETS. WHY DOES ARCHITECTURE PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE HERE? WE ARE TALKING TO THOMAS KAMBER, PRODUCT MANAGER SYSTEMS.

Création Baumann’s new roller blind collection embraces wide fabric application up to 300 cm and functionality, coupled with sophisticated aesthetics. Thomas Kamber, Product Manager Systems, in an interview about the new collection, which has a lot to offer.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE COLLECTION?

With the new collection, you want for nothing. It is very wide-ranging, versatile and offers application options for private and public spaces. Our products allow you to cover broader surfaces, and present themselves with an equally broad choice of functions, new colours and designs.

HOW WAS THE COLLECTION CREATED?

It all started with defining the collection’s areas of focus: We wanted it to concentrate on wide fabric applications as well as encompass screen fabrics with cosy aesthetics, new digital prints and laser designs. Following that, we drafted initial ideas and concepts for fabric qualities, designs and colours. We then developed them and implemented the first patters in production, where designers, product managers and production work hand in hand until the product meets all the requirements and requests.

WHERE DOES THE NEED FOR WIDER FABRIC APPLICATIONS ORIGINATE FROM?

Contemporary architecture is very influential here. The current focus is on large window fronts with a high level of light penetration. To still create privacy, control the light more precisely or improve the room’s acoustics, our products must find an answer to that.

AT THE VERY HEART OF CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE IS THIS FEELING OF FREE SPACE AND CREATIVE SCOPE, OF BRINGING YOUR OWN LIFESTYLE TO LIFE.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF FUNCTIONAL FABRICS IN THE SYSTEMS REALM?

As already mentioned in context with contemporary architecture, functional textiles play a very important role. Apart from large window fronts, the materials used in architecture also have to be considered. Often, different types of hard surfaces meet, such as glass and concrete, and they may adversely impact a room’s acoustics, which can be improved by sound absorbing textiles.

WHICH NEW ROLLER BLIND FABRIC IS YOUR PERSONAL FAVOURITE?

What has become my favourite is SILENT R, a highly functional product offering a lot of benefits, starting with its two-coloured look and recto-verso suitability for varieties of use, a novelty for roller blinds. It continues with its outstanding feel because the fabric is not reinforced when it covers the roller blind. In addition, the dense fabric has a grandiose acoustic effect. A true highlight!

THOMAS KAMBER

Thomas Kamber joined the Création Baumann team as Product Manager Systems in 2019. During his many years of working in upholstery product development, textiles often crossed his path. With a Master’s degree as a design engineer / innovation, his focus was not only on technology, but also on creative tasks. And it is exactly this interplay of technology and design, combined with textiles, which Thomas Kamber values so much about his work.
